class of 2021 this moment is the accumulation of four long years of hard work and personal growth are high school experience was not exactly as we imagined but we aren't going to let that interfere with this itchy and I won't waste time repeating the home you can do virtually anything Mantra being here today is a testament to that perseverance no matter the change we've had to endure we've been able to stay courageous stay strong and in doing so we can stay forever young undoubtably we have much to think that we are here to walk across the stage today first and foremost we would like to thank our school and all of our teachers for doing their very best to keep us all a flow we should install an appreciated the incredible effort made to learn new unanticipated practices this year most of all we would like to thank our family and friends for all of their support I can't think of where I'd be without encouragement to keep going during the watches we are 12 students out of hundreds that's been all nighter studying and drinking copious amounts of coffee and now together as a class we have reached the finish line of this long and bumpy ride but I want to extend farther than this simple thinks everyone who helps us deserves these gratitudes but what about us and what about our struggle we were promised a script a guide for how to glide through these four years and it was ripped from our hands we have so much in debt to others but if only for a moment I want to be thankful that you're all still here with me forever and ever thank you for making it we will always carry with us such fond memories of high school academically we enjoyed hearing the stories of 1700 Europe with Miss Frances perfecting a rhetorical analysis skills with Mrs durbidge becoming an in-form US citizen with Miss only nothing through a research with mrs. Adrian be prepared for college and our careers while laughing at mr. Callahan's jokes listening to mr. Works captivating Friday stories and participating in Mr colgan's interesting experiments I tried to we support our sports teams wearing blue and gold from the courts to the field the track in the pool or many including myself these are places where we can work towards something bigger than ourselves a team it was a positive outlet for us to set our words aside for just a couple hours get about that stressful calculus test that would follow the next morning the bus rides to Way games pregame pep talks and games under the lights make up some of my Fondest Memories of high school soaring above and beyond we showed the heights of our school spirit Thunder sleet rain on our athletes in the blue Zoo dressing up in wacky outfits for Spirit week's energizing the dance floor and pack in the pool deck for the Boat Regatta are just a fraction of the many ways our class brought life to Arroyo Grande High School these experiences will last us a lifetime but just as important are the many ways we give back to the community whether it was through a speed link crew sport tireless service hours or just being a good friend we all proved that we what it takes to be leaders of the future before I began my portion I would like to dedicate my portion of the speech to my mom who tragically passed away last week after a 10-month fight with leukemia Mom I love you and I'm so if your work I will continue it going into the future we also attended club meeting during lunch discussing books and bibliophiles learning about registering to vote in young progressives hearing stories of powerful women and acting change in femme our school's Academic Teams like speech and debate robotic and mock trial computed and represented aghs it was so much fun watching our peers sing and act and drama performances all memories formed simultaneously life outside of Campus alter dramatic just as the world has eternally shifted so have we we all became more active in the social and political processes that surround us something more to gain satisfaction outside of ourselves when looking and didn't know good the future is inviting our world will be greener there is a pass which We Leave Behind there's a present which we enjoy here today but then there's the brightness of the future descriptive high school we were promised is now scorched paper fertilizer in the ground we bury its remains something Joyce Gnar new found Freedom an oak will grow in this place a Great Oak of many branches many leaves today it is our sapling but in the future that we bolt towards we nurture it's gross now I know you can see the future we will reunite at this Great Oak some milk hard into its bark a new script the one we brought ourselves I personally enjoy this image I enjoy forward-looking life the past we leave behind it may be something to remember but my fellow graduates we can never dwell on it we know isolation so intimately now we saw the core existence, reeling in Now's the Time to break down those walls erected over the past year and expand we can make the day about more than the past today is the future an expansion now as we enter the world as individuals Journeys ahead the lessons we've learned in high school help guide us but we must take it upon ourselves to continue learning and to take on the challenge of bettering the world in any way we can this past year we have four Witnesses historical events such as the bushfires Australia covid-19 the black lives matter movement and the election of our first female and first minority vice president will be our generation that inherits the biggest issues climate change Global Public Health Human Rights and systemic and Jess intimacy Our Generation that says enough is enough by creating real change graduating class of 2021 it has been an honor to speak to here today to close we leave you with the words of a man who United go around making a change Bob Dylan may you grow up to be righteous may you grow up to be true may you always know the truth and see the light surrounding you may always be courageous stand upright and be strong and may you stay forever young
