Sociology (Period 2)

This is an introductory course into the field of Sociology, which is basically the study of social structure. We will take a look at group behavior and how individuals act differently depending on which group they are associating with at any given point in time. Sociology is a semester long course. At Arroyo Grande High School, Sociology is a UC/CSU approved elective. Some of the units of study include the historical aspects of the field, research methods in sociology, the study of culture, socialization, social structures, social stratification, race, gender, crime, the family, education, and the ever popular, religion and politics.
