The AGHS Local Scholarship/Grant Application is now available. This general scholarship application is used to award scholarships for a variety of different interests and educational goals. Amounts range from $100 to $10,000.

The Arroyo Grande Rotary Club is pleased to announce their 2022 $10,000 scholarship. ($2500/year for 4 years). Selection will be based on participation in school/community activities and demonstration of leadership skills. Applicants must be planning to attend a 4-year college/university in the fall of 2023.




The Arroyo Grande Sportsman’s Club is offering up to 4 scholarships to seniors. Applicants must have career goals that will have a positive impact on physical, social or political environment for the conservation/preservation and propagation of fish and wildlife and the natural resources within the United States; forest service; fish and game service; and/or wildlife/environmental law.

The California School Employees Association, Lucia Mar Chapter 275 is seeking applicants for their 2023 scholarship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who are dependents of CSEA Chapter 275 Members. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership potential, and promise of achievement. See attached cover letter of more details and application.

The Richard J. Weyhrich Leadership Award is a scholarship created in memory of the leadership and generosity of Richard John Weyhrich. As a young man Weyhrich graduated from West Point and received a commission in the U.S. Army, embarking on a leadership path that would define his career. As a successful financial advisor and consultant, Weyhrich later helped establish the Herbert Alumni Center at the West Point Military Academy. He also supported numerous local organizations including Hospice of San Luis Obispo, Cuesta College, the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo, and the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande. Weyhrich's driving passion was empowering and encouraging individuals with leadership potential, a passion that continues to live on through this scholarship.

Qualifying students have demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as a dedication to serving the San Luis Obispo County community. 

Eligibility Criteria:

a) Applicant is currently a senior at a San Luis Obispo County high school or a SLO County continuation school; and,

b) Applicant is planning to attend full-time at an approved four-year college/university, community college or vocational school. 


Selection Criteria:

a) Demonstration of strong leadership potential 

b) Dedication to serving their school and/or community

c) Submit Supplemental Weyhrich essay using the essay prompts provided (250-650 words total).


Award Value:

The total award value is $3,000.


The Scholarship Committee would like to award at least one $3,000 scholarship to a student from each comprehensive high school in San Luis Obispo County.


Richard J. Weyhrich Leadership Award recipients will be recognized by at a San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors May meeting each year.





The Oceano/Five Cities Elks Lodge #2504 selects an AGHS senior male and female each month based on achievements, character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastics. The Teenager of the Month will be recognized at an Elk’s dinner and will then be eligible for selection of "Teenager of the Year".  At the end of April, we have a panel of Elks Members judge the Student of the Month Applications. From this pool, we will select one male and one female who will each receive a college scholarship.


The form is a pdf fill-in. Download the form, then open it and you'll be able to type on it. Please complete this application on the computer to make it as legible as possible (neatly handwritten applications will also be accepted). We encourage students to completely fill in all parts of this application and not to attach a resume in lieu of any of the areas. 


APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1, 2023 - Completed application should be submitted to [email protected] Students only need to apply once. If your application is not chosen in a given month, it will be considered for the following month. The sooner you turn in an application, the more opportunities you will have for selection.




Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships ($1,000 per year for four years) for children and grandchildren of Elks members. The student must complete and submit the ONLINE application. See the Elk's Legacy Award website for further details regarding eligibility and selection.

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 national 4-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2023 competition. Scholarships will also be awarded at the regional & state levels. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.



Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.

Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.

College students are not eligible to apply.

Permanent legal resident status does not qualify.

Male and female students compete separately.

The California-Hawaii Elks Association (CHEA) Vocational Grant Scholarship is available for any students wishing to pursue a vocational/technical course to receive a certification, or a 2-year schooling leading directly to employment. Any prospective student (male or female), residing within the jurisdiction of the CHEA, who plans to pursue an eligible vocational/technical course may file an application. Persons enrolling in a 4-year course leading to a Bachelor's degree are not eligible. All applicants must be citizens of the United States of America on the date the application is filed. Grants range from $500 to $2000.


APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Rolling. (This scholarship is available year around so there is no official deadline.)



  • MUST be an AGHS Senior
  • MUST have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (include transcript)
  • MUST submit one Letter of Recommendation
  • MUST include a letter of introduction stating educational goals and details of community service activities.

The Ralph & Marguerita Johnson Foundation is seeking applications for their 2022- $1,000.00 scholarship awards. To apply, applicants must be graduating seniors living in the South San Luis Obispo County, have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be a US citizen. Attach transcript to completed application.

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry $1,000.00 scholarships are available to all high school seniors in Santa Barbara & SLO counties attending public schools. The TAG scholarship is intended to foster further study at a community college, 4-year college or an art institute. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution in Fall 2023 and to further an interest in art, but not necessarily a major or minor.  Applicants must have a 2.5 or above grade point average to qualify.



The Woman's Club of Arroyo Grande plans to award a scholarship to a graduating senior from Arroyo Grande High School. Selection will be based on Application, Financial Statement, Transcript, Personal Statement, and Letters of Recommendations. See link for application and guidelines.
